I can't connect Facebook - the most common causes and how to fix them

You click Connect and Facebook won't link, or your Page isn't on the list? Almost always it comes down to one Facebook requirement: the wrong account, no admin role, or an unchecked permission. This guide walks you through every case step by step.

I Can't Connect Facebook to SyncBooster: Causes and Fixes
0 views

You click Connect on Facebook and, instead of a ready channel, you get an empty list, a "no Page found" message, or the process simply never finishes. It's one of the most common moments where connecting accounts can get frustrating. The good news: it's almost never a SyncBooster app failure.

Most "I can't connect Facebook" situations aren't an app bug, just an unmet Facebook requirement: you're publishing from a profile instead of a Page, you don't have the admin role, or you unchecked one of the permissions. Once you know what to look for, you fix it in a minute.

Below you'll find every cause in order, from the most common to the rarest, along with the exact click path. If you're looking for a broader guide covering all platforms (Instagram, Google, LinkedIn), see how to connect all your accounts to SyncBooster. Here we focus on Facebook only.

Where to start

You'll find connecting in the app under Settings -> Accounts. Pick Facebook, click Connect, and go through Facebook's login window and Meta's consent screens. If it went smoothly, great. And if something didn't click, find your symptom below.

You publish from a Page, not from your personal profile

The most common trap: Facebook doesn't allow publishing through third-party tools from a personal profile. You always publish from a Page (fanpage), even if your profile runs in professional or creator mode. A personal profile alone isn't enough, because there's nothing to connect.

If you see a "no Page found" message, it means one of two things: either your account doesn't manage any Page, or it does but you don't have the right role on it (more on that below). If you don't have a Page yet, create one on Facebook, then come back to the SyncBooster app and connect the account.

You need to be a Page admin, not an editor

To authorize the app you need the admin role on the Page. Roles like Editor, Moderator or Analyst don't have the permission to approve the connection. This is the most common silent cause of "I see the login, but my Page isn't on the list to choose from".

You can check your role in the Page settings on Facebook. Go to Settings -> Page setup, then click Page access.

The Page setup screen on Facebook with the Page access item highlighted

On the next screen, under People with Facebook access, find your name. If your account shows permissions such as Delete the Page, Permissions, Content (that is, full access), you can authorize the connection. If you don't have the admin role, ask the current admin to grant it, or have the person who is an admin do the connection.

The Manage access settings screen with the list of people with Facebook access and their permissions

Note: you'll only see this screen (Page setup -> Page access) for a standard Page. If your Page belongs to a business portfolio (Business Manager), you won't find this item here - in that case you check the role and access in the business settings, which we describe in the next section.

Is your Page in Business Manager? Check for "full control"

More and more Pages, especially in companies and agencies, aren't assigned to an account directly but belong to a business portfolio (Business Manager / Meta Business Suite). In that setup, simply being an "admin" is sometimes not enough: you need full control of the Page within the business. If the company granted you limited access, Facebook won't show that Page to the app, even though you manage it day to day.

You can check this in the business settings:

  1. Go to business.facebook.com and log in with the account that manages the business.
  2. Open Business settings -> Accounts -> Pages.
  3. Select your Page and check whether your access shows full control (not just partial permissions).

If you don't have full control, ask the business owner to grant it. If the Page is attached to a business you have no access to at all, the owner has to add you or detach the Page from that business.

Does the business require two-factor authentication (2FA)? Turn it on before connecting

More and more business portfolios (Business Manager) require everyone with access to assets to have two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled. Until you do, Meta limits your access to Pages, and such a Page won't show on the list while connecting, even if you're an admin. If you're stuck despite the right role and full control, this is one of the first things to check.

The easiest way to enable 2FA is on your personal account in Accounts Center:

  1. Go to accountscenter.facebook.com and open Password and security.
  2. Click Two-factor authentication and pick the account you're enabling it for.
  3. Choose a method: authentication app (recommended, e.g. Google Authenticator), SMS, or a security key, and finish the setup.

If the business is the one enforcing 2FA, you can check who has it enabled in Business Manager settings:

  1. Go to business.facebook.com and open Business settings.
  2. Go to the People section.
  3. Next to each person, beside their access level, you'll see a Two-factor authentication - on or off status. If it's off for the person who's meant to connect the Page, that's the most likely reason the Page won't come through. Have them enable 2FA in their Accounts Center (steps above) and try again.

After enabling 2FA, go back to the SyncBooster app and connect Facebook again, the Page should now be on the list.

While connecting, Meta walks you through several very similar dialogs. Each asks about a different type of asset: which Pages, which Business assets (your business portfolio) and which Instagram accounts the SyncBooster app should have access to. In every dialog you have two options:

  • Access to all current and future assets - you share everything you have now, and new Pages or accounts join automatically.
  • Access to current assets only - you manually check which Pages and accounts you're sharing.

We recommend the first option on every one of these screens, because it's the simplest and nothing slips through. But the second is just as valid: if you only want to connect selected Pages, go ahead and check them individually. Just keep one thing in mind: whatever you pick has to include the Page you want to connect. Meta sometimes highlights the manual option with an empty list, so it's easy to go through the whole process and check no Page at all, or miss the right one. Whatever you don't check, the app won't see, and that's exactly how you end up with an empty list despite full permissions.

The Meta consent screen with the Access to all current and future Pages assets option selected

At the end, Meta shows a "Review the access request" screen with the full list of permissions to approve. Click Save and you're done. Unchecking even a single permission on this screen can revoke the whole app's access, so if in doubt, leave everything checked.

Which permissions we take and why

The list on this screen looks serious, but it's the absolute minimum needed to plan and publish posts. We ask for exactly three things:

  • Create content on your Page and manage it - this is what lets SyncBooster publish a scheduled post on the Page on your behalf. Without this permission we could only view the Page but couldn't post anything.
  • Read content published on the Page - lets us show you your published posts and basic stats (reach, reactions) in the app, so you don't have to jump between SyncBooster and Facebook.
  • Show the list of Pages you manage - this is what lets you see your list of Pages after logging in and choose which one to connect. Without it the list would be empty and there'd be nothing to connect.

What we don't take: we have no access to your private messages, your friends list, or your personal profile. The scope covers only the Page (and optionally a linked Instagram account), and you can revoke access at any time - we show how, below.

Checked the wrong permissions? Choose "Edit settings"

If you skipped a Page the first time or picked the wrong option, click Reconnect on Facebook in the SyncBooster app. Meta will then show a "Reconnect" screen saying that continuing will restore the previous settings of this connection. And here's the catch: the Reconnect button approves the old selections without asking about anything. To choose the permissions from scratch, click the Edit settings link - you'll go back to the asset selection dialogs and can check everything again.

Hard reset: remove SyncBooster from Business Integrations

If you unchecked something the first time, interrupted the process halfway, or the connection "remembers" the wrong permissions, the most reliable fix is to revoke access on the Facebook side and connect from scratch. This doesn't delete your account or break anything, it just removes the earlier consent so Meta asks for it again.

  1. Go to Settings & privacy -> Settings -> Business Integrations.
  2. Find SyncBooster in the list and click Remove, then confirm.
  3. Go back to the SyncBooster app, click Connect and go through the process once more, this time checking all Pages and permissions.

Watch out, a key trap: the Business Integrations section is visible only from your main personal profile (the one with your first and last name). Check the top-right corner of Facebook to see who is selected: it must be your personal profile, not a Page. If you currently have a Page profile active, switch to your main profile first - otherwise you won't see this option at all.

The Page still isn't on the list, even though everything checks out

You have the admin role, full control and permissions checked, but the Page still won't show? It's usually about the account currently logged in to the browser. The app connects the account you're currently logged in to on Facebook. If you have another profile open (say a personal one, or a client's business one), Meta will show that one.

The fix: open a new tab, go to facebook.com, log out, come back to the SyncBooster app and connect again on the right account. You can also do the whole connection in a private (incognito) window. We cover the full set of minor issues (expired token, blocked popup, interrupted process, "too many attempts") in the broad guide to connecting accounts.

You don't have to be an admin of the client's Page to publish on their behalf. The SyncBooster app generates a connect link (or QR code) you send to the person who manages the account. The client opens the link on their end, logs in to their own Facebook account, picks the Page and connects it to your SyncBooster panel - without handing you any permissions and without logging in to your panel. It's a convenient solution when the owner doesn't want to make you an admin but you're still meant to publish for them.

You'll find the Share account connect link button under Settings -> Accounts, below the platform tiles. You click it, copy the link (or download the QR code) and send it to the client.

What if I also want to connect Instagram?

If your Instagram account is linked to a Facebook Page, you can connect it through the same Facebook integration. It requires the same things: the Page admin role and checking the Instagram account permissions on Meta's consent screens (which is why it's worth choosing "access to all assets" right away). The Instagram account has to be professional (Business or Creator). We cover the details and the alternative "direct" connection in the guide to connecting all your accounts.

Frequently asked questions

Why don't I see my Facebook Page while connecting?

Most often because you don't have the admin role on that Page, you don't have full control of it in Business Manager, or you unchecked the Page or permissions on the consent screen. Check your role under Page access, and when reconnecting, select all Pages and permissions. On the Reconnect screen, click Edit settings to change your earlier selections.

Can I connect my personal Facebook profile?

No. Facebook only allows publishing through third-party tools from a Page (fanpage), not from a personal profile. If you don't have a Page yet, create one, then connect the account in the SyncBooster app.

I have the admin role but the Page still won't show. What now?

Check whether the Page belongs to a business portfolio where you only have partial access. Go to business.facebook.com -> Business settings -> Accounts -> Pages and make sure you have full control. If you do, try a hard reset: remove SyncBooster from Business Integrations and connect from scratch.

Do I need two-factor authentication (2FA) to connect?

Not always, but if your Page belongs to a business portfolio (Business Manager), the company often requires 2FA from everyone with access. Without it, Meta limits your access to Pages and the Page won't show on the list while connecting. Enable 2FA in Accounts Center (accountscenter.facebook.com -> Password and security -> Two-factor authentication), then connect Facebook again. You can see each person's 2FA status under the People section in Business settings.

How do I revoke the app's access to Facebook?

Go to Settings & privacy -> Settings -> Business Integrations, find SyncBooster and click Remove. This section is only visible from your personal profile, so if you have a Page profile active, switch first. You can also revoke access in the SyncBooster app under Settings -> Accounts with the Disconnect button.

How do I connect a Page I don't have admin rights to?

The SyncBooster app generates a connect link (or QR code) you send to the person who manages the Page. That person opens the link on their end and connects the chosen Page to your panel, without handing you their permissions. Ideal for agencies and freelancers.
