Connecting accounts: Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and Google step by step

Instagram needs a professional account, Facebook needs an admin role, and Google needs a verified profile. We've gathered every requirement and the most common problems when connecting accounts in one place, so it works on the first try.

How to Connect Social Media Accounts to SyncBooster: The Complete Guide
671 views

Connecting a social media account to SyncBooster takes a few seconds, but every platform has its own requirements. Instagram must be a professional account, on Facebook you must be a Page admin, and your Google business profile must be verified. If one of these conditions isn't met, the connection fails, often without a clear message. This guide walks you through every case so the connection works on the first try.

Most failed connections aren't an app bug, they're an unmet platform requirement: the wrong account, missing permissions, or an unverified profile. Once you know what to look for, you fix it in a minute.

Before you start: requirements at a glance

PlatformWhat you need
InstagramA professional account (Business or Creator), usually linked to a Facebook Page
FacebookAn admin role on the Page (not Editor) and an existing Page
LinkedInA personal profile or a Company Page where you are a Super Admin
Google BusinessA verified business profile (location)

You'll find connecting under Settings -> Accounts in the app. Pick a platform, click Connect, and go through that platform's login window. The rest of this guide explains what to do when something goes wrong.

Problems you might run into

These are the most common situations. We cover the fix for each one below:

  • Instagram says your account is not a business account.
  • After connecting Facebook, your Page doesn't appear on the list.
  • The wrong account got connected.
  • On LinkedIn you're not sure whether to connect a profile or a company page, or you want to connect two profiles.
  • Google says no location was found, even though your business is on Google.
  • Publishing suddenly stopped working after a while (expired token).
  • You clicked Connect and nothing happens.

Let's go platform by platform.

Instagram: a Business or Creator account

The most common Instagram problem: the account is personal. Publishing through third-party apps only works with professional accounts, meaning Business or Creator. If your account is personal, Instagram will refuse the connection.

How to switch to a professional account

You do this once, in the Instagram app on your phone:

  1. Go to your profile and open the menu (three lines in the top right corner).
  2. Choose Settings and privacy.
  3. Find Account type and tools (or Account), then Switch to professional account.
  4. Choose Business (for companies and brands) or Creator (for public figures and creators). Both work for publishing through SyncBooster.
  5. Follow Instagram's instructions to the end.

After this change, go back to SyncBooster and try connecting again.

Linking to a Facebook Page

For full integration, a professional Instagram account usually needs to be linked to a Facebook Page. Meta (the owner of both platforms) checks an unbroken chain: your Instagram account -> Facebook Page -> your admin role on that Page. If any link is incomplete, the connection fails.

You set up the link in the Instagram app (Settings -> Account -> Sharing to other apps) or in Meta Business Suite. Make sure the Facebook Page you link Instagram to is a Page you administer.

Have several Instagram accounts on one login?

Instagram lets you keep several accounts under one login, for example your personal one and a business one, and switch between them in the app. That's convenient, but it can cause confusion when connecting.

When you click Connect, the Meta window usually shows the account that is currently set as active in your app or browser. If the active one is your personal account but you want to connect the business one, the system sees the personal account and refuses (because it isn't a business account).

The fix is simple: before you click Connect, switch to the correct (business) account. In the Instagram app, tap your name at the top of the screen and choose the account you want to connect. Only then go back to SyncBooster and connect.

Facebook: you must be a Page admin

On Facebook you publish from a Page, not from your profile. Two problems come up most often.

You need the admin role, not editor

To authorize the app you need the admin role on the Page. Roles like Editor, Moderator, or Analyst don't have permission to approve the connection. This is the most common silent cause of "I can't see my Page on the list".

You can check your role in the Facebook Page settings, under Page access. If you're not an admin, ask the current admin to grant you that role, or have the person who is an admin do the connection.

Also remember you must have a Page. A personal profile alone isn't enough, because there's nothing to connect. If you see a message about a missing page, it means your account doesn't manage any Page, or you don't have the admin role on it.

The Page selection screen: keep everything checked

During connection, Facebook shows a screen where you choose which Pages you give the app access to. It's easy to slip here: if you uncheck a Page or one of the permissions, SyncBooster won't see it.

The safest option is to select all current and future Pages. That way you won't miss anything, and new Pages work automatically. If Facebook shows a list of individual Pages with checkboxes, leave them all checked.

Unchecking even a single permission can revoke access for the whole app and pause scheduled posts. If in doubt, check everything.

LinkedIn: personal profile or Company Page

On LinkedIn you can publish from two different places: your personal profile or a Company Page (organization). These are two separate channels, and when connecting you choose which one you're linking.

Two LinkedIn profiles = two separate channels

One connection maps to one profile or one organization. If you want to manage two different LinkedIn profiles (for example yours and a partner's, or a personal profile and a second profile), you need to create a separate channel in SyncBooster for each one and authorize them individually. You can't attach two profiles to a single connection.

A Company Page requires the Super Admin role

If you're connecting a Company Page, LinkedIn requires you to have the Super Admin role on it. Content Admin or Analyst roles aren't enough to authorize a third-party tool. You can check and change the role in your LinkedIn Page's admin panel (admin settings). Note too that to manage a Company Page, LinkedIn always requires an active personal profile that the role is tied to.

Google Business: a verified profile

To connect your Google business profile (Google Business Profile), your profile (location) must be verified. If it isn't, during connection you'll see a message about a missing location, even though the business appears on Google.

How to check whether your profile is verified

  1. Go to business.google.com and sign in with the account your business is linked to.
  2. Select your location (business).
  3. If the profile is verified, you'll see a verification mark, and the profile is fully editable and visible to customers.
  4. If it is not verified, Google shows a message like "Your business is not visible to customers" and a Get verified button.

You can also use the dedicated verification status tool at support.google.com/business/workflow/12825603 (after signing in). It shows clearly whether the profile is verified, pending, or requires verification.

How to verify your profile

If the profile isn't verified, click Get verified and choose one of the methods Google offers:

  • Video recording (in 2026 Google most often defaults to this method to reduce spam),
  • phone or text,
  • email,
  • a postcard sent to the business address,
  • instant verification (available for some businesses).

The waiting time depends on the method: from a few minutes to as long as two weeks. Video verification is usually reviewed within 3 to 5 business days. Only after the status becomes "verified" should you go back to SyncBooster and connect the Google profile.

Something went wrong? Quick fixes

If the connection failed, one of the steps below usually does the trick.

Publishing stopped working after a while. This is most often an expired access token. For security, platforms renew access periodically (roughly every 60 days on Instagram). Just go to Settings -> Accounts, click Reconnect next to the account, and log in again.

The process broke halfway through. When you click Connect, the platform gives SyncBooster a one-time ticket valid for only a moment. If you click "back", refresh the page, or wait too long, the ticket expires and the connection can't finish. Nothing is broken. Just start over: click Connect again and go through the whole process in one go, without going back.

Too many attempts in a row. If you click Connect many times in a short period, the platform may temporarily block further attempts. Wait a few minutes and try again.

You clicked Connect and nothing happens. The login window opens as a pop-up. If your browser blocks it (pop-up blocker, strict cookie settings, an adblock extension), the process won't start. Allow pop-ups for SyncBooster, or try in a private (incognito) window.

The wrong account got connected. The app connects the account you're currently logged into in the browser. If you have a personal Facebook or Instagram open, it will connect that one. Log out of the wrong account and into the right one, or do the connection in a private window.

FAQ

Can I connect a regular, personal Instagram account?

No. Publishing through third-party tools only works with professional accounts: Business or Creator. Switching account type is free and takes a moment in the Instagram app.

Why can't I see my Facebook Page during the connection?

Usually because you don't have the admin role on that Page, or you unchecked the Page or permissions on the consent screen. Check your role in the Page settings, and when reconnecting keep all Pages and permissions checked.

How do I connect two LinkedIn profiles?

You create a separate channel in SyncBooster for each profile or organization and authorize them individually. One connection handles one profile or one Company Page.

How do I know my Google profile is verified?

Sign in at business.google.com and select the business. A verified profile shows a verification mark, an unverified one shows a "Get verified" button. You can also check the status at support.google.com/business/workflow/12825603.

Publishing worked, and now it stopped. What happened?

Most likely the platform access token expired. Go to Settings -> Accounts and click Reconnect next to the account.
