Social Media Image Dimensions

Recommended upload dimensions for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and Google Business Profile. Every number verified in July 2026.

|The table below lists upload sizes, not display sizes. The two often differ by a factor of two, because platforms scale images down, never up.

The dimensions that matter most - quick answer

If you have to pick a single size for everything, upload images at 1080x1350 px (4:5). They display correctly in the feed on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. For Stories, Reels, and TikTok use 1080x1920 px (9:16).

Facebook Page cover: upload a 1640x624 px file. Facebook shows it as 820x312 px on desktop and 640x360 px on mobile, so keep your logo and text in the centre of the frame. On LinkedIn, the personal profile background is 1584x396 px and the company page background is 4200x700 px. On Google Business Profile a post photo is 1200x900 px and the logo is 720x720 px.

On Instagram the strongest format right now is 1080x1440 px (3:4). It is the only one that fills the feed and also fits the profile grid without cropping. The 1080x1080 px square still works, but it takes up less screen space.

Image dimensions - frequently asked questions

What is the Facebook cover photo size?

Upload a 1640x624 px file. Facebook displays a Page cover as 820x312 px on desktop and 640x360 px on mobile, so keep the key elements in the centre of the frame (roughly 640x312 px). If you upload 820x312 px directly, the cover looks blurry on high-density displays.

What is the best Instagram post size?

1080x1440 px, a 3:4 ratio. It fills the feed and is the only format that fits the profile grid without cropping. 1080x1350 px (4:5), 1080x1080 px (square), and 1080x566 px (landscape) are still supported.

What size are Stories and Reels?

1080x1920 px, a 9:16 ratio, on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok alike. Keep text and buttons at least 250 px from the top and 320 px from the bottom, because that is where the app places its own interface. In Reels, also leave the right edge clear, where the like and comment buttons sit.

What is the LinkedIn background image size?

Personal profile background: 1584x396 px (4:1). Company page background: 4200x700 px - that is the size in the LinkedIn documentation, and it displays as 1128x191 px. The profile photo is 400x400 px, with a minimum of 268x268 px.

Which photo sizes does Google Business Profile need?

Post photo: 1200x900 px (4:3). Cover photo: 1024x576 px (16:9), minimum 480x270 px. Logo: 720x720 px - the size Google recommends, with a 250x250 px minimum. JPG or PNG files between 10 KB and 5 MB.

Is one image size enough for every platform?

Almost. 1080x1350 px (4:5) displays correctly in the feed on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn, so a single image covers three platforms. The exceptions are Stories and vertical video (1080x1920 px), profile background images, and Google Business Profile, where the post photo is landscape (1200x900 px).

Where these numbers come from

The dimensions come from platform documentation and from industry reference tables updated in 2026. We re-check every number whenever the platforms change their layouts.
